From his book Pedagogy of the Oppressed:
“The oppressed, instead of striving for liberation, tend themselves to become oppressors.”
“The oppressed want at any cost to resemble the oppressors.”
Those two quotes ring true especially today with radical leftists seeking to overthrow the American government in favor of a socialist/leftist police state because of their perceived oppression of minorities. Hey assholes…slavery ended 152 years ago, so fucking get over it.
“Welfare programs as instruments of manipulation ultimately serve the end of conquest. They act as an anesthetic, distracting the oppressed from the true causes of their problems and from the concrete solutions of these problems.”
This also rings true. What better way to distract the American sheeple from learning how both Democrats and Republicans serve global corporate interests instead of their interests by promising “free tuition” and “free healthcare” and “free food” and “free cellphones” and “$15 an hour minimum wage”?
“Leaders who do not act dialogically, but insist on imposing their decisions, do not organize the people–they manipulate them. They do not liberate, nor are they liberated: they oppress.”
This perfectly describes every U.S. president since Lyndon Baines “I want that God damn ship going to the bottom” Johnson. Every president since LBJ has had the mentality of “I do what I want, when I want” and “my way or the highway”. (Trump is no different.)
